Hey mom!!

Things are going good for me!! Man you guys are having parties like all the time down there it seems like haha. Just kidding. Man i wish i could have costa vida or chipotle. I think the only Chipotle is Pueblo, and or Colorado Springs. There isnt anything like that down here in Dodge city. Just a lot of hispanic fast food and stuff. There is this food place that is supposed to be really good that i havent been able to go to yet called Pastorcito. So i wanna go there soon. And you remember how my last two companions were from El Salvador? Well they always talked about a food called Papusas. And just the other day i had one, they are so bomb!! Man, so i have to find the restaurant here that sells them, cuz not many people know how to make them and apparently they are hard to make but they are SO good!! haha.

I'm so backed up on letters haha. It comes to P-day and i dont even want to write letters cuz i just wanna chill haha. But Slowly but surely I'm still writing them. So keep writing letters cuz i want more letters i love letters :)

We found a lot of investigators this past week. We had like a total of 16 people that we could get to church. And only one of our investigators came. But that is okay. It was way cool. He is guatamalan and we just started teaching him last week. We are gonna pass by again this week and hope that he can go to church this sunday and then we can baptize him!! That would be awesome. K is good, he is only 14 and i dont think his parents wnat us teaching him or anything. So it's been a little hard with him. But were gonna pass by tonight. And R is good, he is just hard to get in contact with. We have quite a few more investigators that I'm working with so its really exciting. I hope we get to see some action sometime soon :) Me and Elder Kelley are doing good. I will send you a couple of more pictures that are pretty cool i guess haha.

Well i guess that is all for this week. I'm trying to think and i dont think anything TOO exciting happened this week. Just the normal. Well i love you all. thank you for all your prayers.

Love
Elder Kingsley

Hey Mom!!

I'm doing good!! We got our key back so we are getting mail and everything is going good.

This past week was pretty good. Like 2 weeks ago we found a lady that is actually from Mexico and we started teaching her. But then we found out she was going back to Mexico so we taught her as much as we could before she left. But we decided to go back one day and talk with her sister and the sisters husband. We have been teaching them and they seem pretty solid. The only is, is that it's hard for them to get work off, and they work on the weekends. So one day this past week we decided to fast for them, so that they would be able to go to church. But the interesting thing that i think i found out, is that God will bless you in whatever way he wants. Cuz that day we ended up finding 2 solid investigators. A guy named R and then a 14 year old kid named K. And I'm just gonna talk about K, cuz he is tight. We started teaching him and he let us in and we just talked. We are good friends, and we have passed by and taught him quite a bit. But this last time that we passed by we watched the Restoration video with him and the spirit was super strong. We asked him to pray at the end, and didnt tell him what to say. His prayer was awesome and it hit me so strong. He said "thank you for having these 2 guys come over and help me through my hard times, bless the unforatunate so that they can have things, and bless people to know, that the Book of Mormon is true, because I believe it to be true.." It was so awesome!! My face just lit up, he is such a solid kid and he loves us. It hit me how real this all is, Being out here and helping people and sharing the truth with them. You never know who you are going to affect in your life. But you need to live in a way so that you can affect people in a good way. I love this gospel and what I'm doing.

So that is kinda my awesome story for this past week. This past week was pretty funny too. We met a lot of intersting people. And one thing that is interesting is that there are a few like Vietnamese people here in Dodge city, that dont speak english or spanish. So sometimes we happen to knock on there doors and they dont understand anything. So this past week that happened to us. And my companion Elder Kelley as we were talking to the asian was just like "Ya my companion smells really bad huh?" and he was just like ya ya ya like smiling. And then Kelley was like "ya he is really ugly i know, okay well bye!" and then we just left haha. I just started laughing cuz i wasnt expecting that at all. It was hilarious cuz he didnt understand a thing, he just agreed with us. Haha.

So School is about to start here in Dodge. College has already started buy like high school and elementary start like this Thursday or something. So that is really weird, now everyone is gonna be gone. One of these days were going on a tour of the meat factories and I'm super excited for that. I'm trying to think of some other fun things that have happened this past week, but I can't really think of anything. Well, I love you all, thank you for all your love and support. You are all in my prayers. Be safe.

Love,
Elder David James Kingsley

Hey Family!!

Things are doing good here up in Dodge City. It is a little warm and I'm sweating like a pig, but its enjoyable. By the way yes, i did get your package. Sorry for not letting you know. Thank you for the Seeds and the Candy, it's gone. And the stickers and Temple recomend holders. Those are way cool!!

Being flushed is hard. But its getting better. When we first got here we didnt know anyone. And our DL was in Cali cuz he had to renew his papers or something and he just got back. So it was alittle rough. Cuz there was no one here before us. They just threw us in like an add on i guess. So we didnt have investiagtors or anything. So it has been a little rough. But we are doing good i love it, the members are awesome and the people here are great. But this past week was good. We had Zone Conference yesterday and it was awesome. It helped me a lot. We talked a lot about adversity, and then also about these new 8 lessons that they are going to begin teaching us. We went over the first one and it was awesome. It is going to help us teach a lot better and be better missionaries!! :) I'm super excited for it!! Right now we dont have any new investigators. But pray that we can continue to find. I didnt realize how important the ward is when it comes to missionary work. SO keep up the good work your doing. Cuz it helps a lot i promise :) I am in a branch where we are all working together and giving refferalls and everything. It's a lot different then alamosa.

So there is this really cool convert family of about 6 months, but they are english. And we talked to them and we are pretty tight. But like the other day we were tracting in his neighborhood and he saw us and invited us in and we started talking. I found out that his 12 year old son plays the bass, like in orchestra. And apparently he is like the best in Dodge City? Really good or soemthing idk. But i was like I HAVE to come over and play, and he was like ya he is getting his bass the 16 or something. So I'm gonna swing, cuz actually we are having a dinner with him cuz he is inviting all the missionaries. So when we go i'm gonna play!! AHH I'm super excited :)

Well i'm sorry i dont have pictures yet. I need to get like a cord or something that i can plug into my camera, or i will just have to borrow someones. I just forget to ask and bring my camera. So you will get pictures. AHH so you did get the pictures from the manassah days. ahha.Pretty cool huh? E Kelley left the keys to the mail and the house in Garden at Zone conference, so we got new house keys, but not mail keys. So idk what we are going to do, were gonna talk to the mail man today and see if there is something we can do. Otherwise i might not get mail for like 2 weeks or something until we get the key back. Cuz Garden City is like 50 miles away. And we only have a certain amount of miles this month.

Things are going great. I'm learning to love the people up. This is the work of Christ, and i'm greatful to be out here. Thank you for all you do for me and all your love and prayers.

I love you,
Elder David Kingsley

Hey mom!!

Ya the last week of that transfer was really fun. I kinda decided that my mission is gonna be a mission of firsts. That's why i wanna try like everything i possibly can. And now that I'm in Kansas i really wanna see a tornado or something crazy like that haha. But ya that family back in Alamosa was awesome. I went to say goodbye when i found out i was going to Dodge and Hmo gave me 20 bucks and was like grab something to eat, take care of yourself. I love them. I took a picture with them, so i will have to send that next week or something. They are an awesome family.

This week has been alright. Im not gonna lie, it is REALLY cool being in Dodge City. I love it, it is way different then Alamosa. But ya i have heard about the show Gunsmoke and everything. It's way fun up here in Dodge. Like in alamosa when i left it was like 65-70 degrees during the day. And here it's like 95-100. So it is pretty warm. When we drove out here there was nothing. All we saw was just like grass and sky forever. But when we got to Dodge there are a lot of hills in the city, and the housees are all built on them, so it's really cool. But it makes riding your bikes something to endure. haha. Here in Dodge we have 8 Spanish elder's and 2 english. There is only one english ward and a spanish branch. But we have dinner with the members, and the members feed all 8 of us. Haha. Its pretty crazy, but way awesome at the same time. The Elder's down here are really cool. One of the Elder's that came out with me is here with me again. But when we were in the mission home president switched him to spanish, he is from brazil and knows portugeise too. He is a really cool guy, Elder Varella. The member's are way cool. I was talking with a member who they are both from Veracruz Mexico, and they moved here like 5-7 years ago. So i told them about Stephen but they didnt remember a Kingsley. So they could have missed him or something idk. But they are a way cool family.

My Spanish is definately gonna get a lot better here. One thing that I have noticed here, is that it is the exact opposite of Alamosa. When i was in Alamosa, there were little spots where you knew Spanish lived and the rest were English. Here, There are spots where the English are and the rest are Spanish. Most of the doors we knock are Spanish, with a few english mixed in. And i love it, It is definately way cool. My new comp is Elder Kelley, he is white and really has only been out on his mission for 2 or 3 more months then me? And it has been interesting.. being with him. He is a good guy.

Oh ya!! So they have like 2 meat companies here where they slaughter like 3000 cows a day, EACH. It's crazy. And one thing they do like every week is they like boil the blood or something? So you get this nice RICH beautiful smell for a while. haah. It's cool. I like it up here a lot. I wish it wasn't super hot when we were tracting and stuff. But i heard it starts snowing in October. So if i am still here that will be interesting as well. I think were gonna try and get a tour of one of the meat factories. You get to see everything from the cow being butchered to it getting packaged!! :) I'm excited for that.

Wow i cant believe freddy is starting school, Everyone is starting school and it's so weird for me. I feel like everyone just got out of school and now they are back? Ya it's crazy tomorrow I'm at 5 months and then at the end of this transfer i will be at 6 and something. Time is going fast. But time in the mission is difficult to explain. Cuz sometimes the days go by really slow. And the weeks go by fast. But it's just weird how that all works. So ya, but i guess it doesnt feel like i have been gone for 5 months, that is for sure.

Glad to hear everyone is doing good. That sounds cool about the work out machine. I would be down to use it, but also when i get back I'm possitive I'm gonna start doing P90X again, cuz i saw really good results with that. I really need to start working out up here more. Hey so we have this really weird exercise bike in our apartment. It's like from the 70's and makes NO sense to me, haha. It doesnt work out anything. I will have to take a video of it cuz it's pretty intsense.

Weelll Things are going good up here. It's way fun and the people here are awesome. I love being with the Hispanic culture, learning something new everyday. Thank you for all your prayers, and i look forward to hearing from you next week.

Love Always,
Elder Kingsley

ME VOY a DODGE CITY!! I'm headed up to Colorado Springs tonight and then tomorrow we have actual transfers and I'm going to Dodge City Kansas!! I'm pretty excited for that to be honest. I think my Spanish will get some help after that!! :) But I'm gonna be with an Elder named Elder Kelley. Sounds white to me, haha. So i hope his Spanish is good cuz he can help me. But ya I'm way excited to go to Kansas. It's like a 5 hour drive from Colorado Springs and they are an hour ahead of where I am now. It will be fun getting to know a new area and new people. Cuz i heard Dodge City is like Alamosa, but opposite. Here there are a few spots of Spanish and then a few mixed in. But i heard in Dodge, there a few english spots, and a few mixed in. So I'm really excited for that!!

Sounds like you guys had a fun trip!! Thanks for the pictures :) haha. Good to hear about the weather. Its already starting to get cold in Alamosa. Its like 60 degrees right now and its sunny. So I'm kinda glad i will be getting a way from the cold for a little bit longer. Cuz i think Its still pretty warm in Kansas. And it doesnt start snowing until like October or so apparently.

Investigators.. This past week was hard. You remember the guy who cant get baptized cuz he is not divorced and remarried? Well we were gonna baptize his son yesterday. And he had an interview and everything and was ready to be baptized, but they didnt go to church. So we stopped by there house and he told us he didnt think he was ready to be baptized and blah blah blah. So we didnt have a baptism yesterday unfortunately. But it will be cool to start new somehwere else. Im way excited for that. So the valley, is like all over. Alamosa is part of the valley. Its the San Luis Valley. And it has just a bunch of places. Center, Monte Vista, Del Norte, Sanford, Manassah, Salida, La Jara. Its just a bunch of places, and its called the valley.

So ya about Saturday, it was the CRAZIEST experience. It was cool. So every Pioneer Days, Manassah has this HUGE party. With liike a parade and everything. And So The missionaries from Alamosa and the Missionaries down there, and President and Sister Pfile came down. And we got to be in the Parade!! It was SUPER cool. We walked behind a truck and shook peoples hands that were watching and gave them cards and stuff. But Mannassah is EXTREMELY mormon populated. So when we walked by EVERYONE would scream for us and clap and stuff. I felt like a celebrity. It was amazing haha, I felt super loved. And then on the way back, we sang hymns and stuff. It was a really cool Experience. And after we walked aroudn trying to talk to people. But that didnt go as well as planned. Cuz people didnt wanna listen to us, they just wanted to ride rides and eat and stuff. haha.

But yes i Saw the Palmer Family. It was the weirdest thing!! I was just walking down the side in the parade shaking people's hands and just talking to people not really looking at who they were. Then all of a sudden i look up and i hear "DAVID" and people screaming and I'm like AHHH. And it was Cammie, so i like shoook her hand. And then sister palmer was like ahh i can hug you and gave me a big hug. But I had to keep walking. But it freaked me out, like no joke. I was in shock. I wasnt expecting to ever see people i knew in my mission haha. But then after the parade she came up to me with John and talked to me a little. Tell her sorry if i was a little stand offish or something. iwas just scared and nervous, so i was probably acting a little weird. I didnt even ask about david, haha i felt bad. But she took a picture of me and Elder Olivares.

So nothing much has realy happened this week. Yesterday was cool. We went over to one of my favorite families, the Gallardos. And she made us some cow tongue tacos and some cow brain tacos. They were both REALLY good. I think i like tongue better. But brain honestly was pretty good. I'm glad i got to try it. She knew i wanted to try it so that's why she bought it for me. She bought the whole Cow head and prepared it all and stuff. So it was cool.

Well i guess that is all that is new right now. Super excited to see how this next week goes. Love you all!!
