May Pictures

This is a little lake we drive by when we go to centro. and so we decided to take a picture. It looks a lot cooler when it's not cloudy and you can see the mountains behind me.
Idk if you will be able to tell this was when we were driving and there was just tons of dust blowing by.
Our district on last p day. They are some sweet guys. My companion is the one next to me.
Apparently deer are like the town animal. They just walk across the town. Yesterday we saw a deer just chilling on someone's front lawn, so it was pretty funny. This was my first day with deer behind me.

Ay caraye.

Two weeks in Alamosa. Its pretty sweet. You know how i wished before i got my call that i was going somewhere foreign? Well sometimes i feel like I'm in a foreign country haha. I love it though. My spanish, i think, has gotten a little better this past week. And during sacrement i was able to understand a lot more then the first week. So its coming. I still wish i could just speak it but I know that wont happen. At least for a while.

So my Zl's and us decided that I'm just one of the Elders that crazy things happen to, or like crazy experiences. I havent had as crazy as experiences as i did my first week. But we are always running into the weirdest people. haha. I love it. We taught this Guatamalan, but its really hard cuz they kinda speak a different dialect in Guatamala. So they are trying to learn spanish and dont really understand what were saying. so its really hard to teach them because they cant understand. We have taught 2 Guatamalans this past week. so we will continue to see how they do, its hard though ha.

im trying to think of some things that happened this week. This week was good. The days just go by fast. Especially when were in our house at night. i feel like we just get there and then all of a sudden we have to go to bed.

Well it rained this past weekend. So that was kinda cool i guess. Im not a huge fan of tracting in the rain. haha. but im love the weather up here. Its great. Like during the weekend it was 48 degrees or something like that. And i just sat there laughing like wow down in AZ i know its double then this. pretty crazy. Well I'm doing good. Me and my comp are getting a long really well. As a district were going to this place called Zapatta falls? Or something like that. Its supposed to be really cool so i will have pictures next week.

Oh ya. I am definately going to get fat haha. Estoy engordarme. With the amount of food people keep feeding us. They have THE BEST tortillas i just cant stop eating them haha. On saturday i had something i have never had before. I cant even remember the name. Its my comps favorite dish. I didnt even know what it was until after i ate it haha. It was'nt too bad. He said it was kinda like Menudo but not really. It had some type of meat in it and it was like a soupy substance. And this past week i had the best spanish meal i have ever had. It was delicious. I love home made tortiallas. haha

well i guess tahts all for me. i think im gonna attach a few pictures. So hopefully you enjoy those.

Hey family!!

Things are going good, it was good talking to you. And maybe next time me and stephen can talk in spanish or something ha. But ya it hasnt been too long since we talked so not a lot of new stuff has happened. Our apartment is really nice. Its just us two living in it. So we have one room for where we sleep and then our other room where we study. And its pretty nice, i would say nicer then some of the other elder's apartments that i have seen. My companions name is Elder Castillo and he is from El Salvador but has lived in the states for the past couple of years. Things are good with him, i feel he gets frustrated with me sometimes cuz i cant always understand everything he says and everything that i want to say. But it will come, each day my understanding gets better and better, which has been really nice.

Zone conference was actually really good!! There was a lot that i learned. I guess like a couple weeks before we got there we had a general authority come down and do like a mission tour and he kind of changed things around in our mission and like with our stats and everything. So I am apart of like the new generation of things going on in this mission. And i have heard that we are like one of the highest baptizing missions. SO thats kind of cool. Its just really hard down here with the Hispanics. They all are pretty much catholic, with some exceptions, and its just really hard to teach them especially when they arent really open to it. But one thing that the general authority said is that "this mission is on the verge of great things." So i find it interesting that i am out here on my mission at this specific time. So i wonder how that will go.

The weather up here is crazy. haha. Its like between 50 and 60 degrees and its super windy. There hasnt been a day when it hasnt been windy. Also its super dusty, its just dust galore. When we walk anywhere its just a thick dust everywhere. This area is really cool. Its completely different then what I am used to. Tons of really small houses and its just completely different but i love it. Its a new expereince for me. I hope i go out to Dodge City or Garden City sometime cuz i heard that is a change as well.

Well i guess we had a few interesting stories. I forgot to tell you. I think it was on Sunday and we were tracting and this girl is jogging by and my comp told me to go talk to her but i was to shy and said no cuz she was runnning and stuff. And then i was just like AHHH i need to be more bold with my things. And then sometime later she came running down the other side of the street. So i was just like this is my opportunity and so i walked out the the street and we started jogging with her and we got a return appointment. It was so funny, but cool at the same time. I mean if i was jogging and some guys just started jogging with me talking im sure i would want them to come share something with me too haha. Jk. But seriously that was pretty cool.

Yesterday we visited a referall and taught him a lesson. Kind of... He was really out of it and we would ask him questions and he would just sit there. So idk if he was like drunk or something but he was just having a really hard time cuz his friends got deported and stuff. So we tried to share a message with him. It was just hard so were going to go back another day. Also i was feeling yesterday we needed to go talk to this guy named Juan. So we went over to his house and he came out and i just told him that We had a message for him. And that that was the reason i came back. So we started teaching and i thought it was going good and all. And then he kind of stopped us and told us he respected us but that he wasnt very interested, but he hoped that we have sucess in all we do. So that was kind of sad, but we will see how things go. We left him with a foyeto and a tarjeta with our numbers on them. So hopefully he will call us sometime.

Well i guess thats all thats going on. I love you all. Things are going great. Thanks for keeping me in your prayers.

Love,
Elder Kingsley

Hey mom!!

THings are pretty sweet up here. The week has flown by, its ridiculous that its already wednesday and i leave in 5 days. I cant wait to get out of here. I want REAL food. haha. So my plane leaves at 8am on monday morning. and Im assuming i will get to the airport around 6 or so, so here is the deal. I will probably call then, but 6 our time is 5 your time... So its gonna be kinda early that i have to call you. I have a flight to Denver, 1 hour 20 min, then i have about an hour in denver and then fly to colorado springs, which is like 35 min. haha. Idk why they are doing that, but that is how its going to happen. But i was thinking i would probably call for sure in the morning before any flight, and then maybe in denver, i just dont know cuz i might want to use that time to grab something to eat. Cuz when i arrived at the Mtc and i didnt eat anything in the airport and i wanted to die that day. haha. So i will definately be eating something, plus its real food. ha.

This past week has actually been really awesome. Except i got sick, and i lost my voice for some reason, and on saturday it was the worst. We were in class and our teacher tells us he has a secret for us. So we were thinking it was another one of his things we need to know in the field, and then he is all "alright lets go, were going to the Referall Center" And i was like what? Cuz The referell center is only allowed if you come in on your free time or if your teacher takes you, its not required like it used to be. So i was freaking out cuz i had no voice, and he was just like you will do fine. So i was super nervous and didnt really want to do it at all. But we started and the first call REJECTED. haha. It was pretty funny, but i actually could kind of speak. So after an hour of doing it or so we wanted to keep doing it, so we came back after dinner, and i had a really cool experience. I ended up talking to this lady Donna for about 35 min or so. And i shared with her about the Restoration and a little bit of the plan of salvation. And it was the coolest experience cuz it just made me want to get out and teach people. And the cool thing was is everything i taught her she agreed with me, and she would say things and i would use what she said to answer some questions that she had. It was really cool.

Also, we had our last TRC which is teaching in spanish. And it was the best lesson we have EVER taught. It was so cool. I dont even remember what i said, cuz i'm pretty sure i wasnt saying it, the spirit was definately helping me out. My spanish is coming along, and i love talking in it, But i know im in for surprise when i get to colorado. My biggest problem is understanding Natives. It is so ridiculously hard. They speak so fast, but our teach said after the first transfer or two i should be able to understand haha.

And then for our last devotional that we had last night, guess what? We were visited by ANOTHER apostle of the Lord. It was incredible. L. Tom Perry came and spoke to us. It was so cool to be able to see two prophets of the Lord since i have been up here in the MTC. He spoke a lot about the BOM and how powerful it is and how we need to make it apart of our daily lives. Which is something i want to do, i need to become way more familiar with the scriptures. So i can just pull out a scripture whenever i need it.

So ya this past week has been filled with lots of great stuff. The spirit has been really strong, and today was the last time i probably will get to go to the temple. Cuz i dont have a temple in my mission and i dont how that will work. So that was kinda sad, But hopefully i will be able to go to the temple sometime.

So talk to you this weekend and monday.

Love
Elder Kingsley

Hello familia.

Things are going great up here in the Mtc. Nothing is really new. Kinda just the same thing every day. haha. Which isnt bad. It's just nothing new or very exciting ever happens. Except on rare ocassions. Spanish is actually going well. We decided as a class to play this game call "El Nativo Escondido" And so we all pick a card, and one person picks "El Nativo Escondido". ANd if your that you wanna try and talk in spanish all day and never speak english. Because at the end of the day we pick who we think is it and then if were right we get a point and if you are the native you get double the points if someone picks you. Here is thing. WE have been doing it for the past 6 days. I was it the first day and some people picked me. I have been it 4 out of the 6 times and it sucks because no one ever picks me anymore. haha. Cuz i always speak in spanish so they just forget about me. So i dont even have that many points. Its kinda lame on that part, but its still fun talking in spanish. I love talking in spanish. But i still know absolutely nothing. ha.

They closed the gym so we cant go in the for gym cuz they are doing construction. SO they make us go out to the field now. And guess what i do? ..... I play soccer!! It's so awesome. haha. I forgot how much fun soccer was. I love playing. The other day i met this elder from england who was incredibly good and soccer and he played with us. It was so awesome. So thats kinda been fun just chilling and plpaying soccer.

I should be getting my flight plans tomorrow or Friday. Which is super crazy for me. Its kinda weird that i'm leaving so soon. It doesnt really seem like it. And it's weird, and dont take this the wrong way, but it hasnt totally seemed like i have been on a mission cuz i havent been tracting or doing things like that. Of course im studying and preparing and stuff, but it feels for like a church camp on steroids. Which is awesome. So i'm nervous to hit the field. Especially about spanish. But i know it's going to be awesome. So at the same time im excited.

We havnt done that devotional so idk if i will play the guitar. But i hope so. Umm and i see chance all the time. We are in the same buidling he is just two floors lower then me. And we always see each other walking around or studying so we always talk to each other. I'm pretty sure we see each other at least once a day. So that is pretty sweet. He is awesome.

I wanted to try and surprise you but i guess i will tell you. Idk if you knew, but i can call you from the airport when i get to the airport before i go to colorado. There are no rules on calling people at the airport. So i can buy a phone card and call you or something. And im pretty sure my departure date is the 4th or 5th. which i belive is before mothers day, so you will probably hear from me on mother's day as well. Two times in a month? Sweet deal.

Yikes, well thats good to hear that john is okay. And that is a great moral haha. I will remember that while im out here, i have been working on just being myself. One of my companions had a similar things. He jammed his finger with his ring on and it got all swollen and purple so we had to go to the ER again. haha they were going to get a ring cutter, but they didnt have one in provo so we had to go to orem and then this huge burley woman decided, I'm gonna rip that ring off his finger. And she did. haha. About 10 min later it was off. Kinda ridiculous, but ridiculously funny for us as well. Well i kinda am just rambling on, so sorry abouty that. I will let you know when i get my flight plans, and i will hear from you next week. I love you !!

Elder Kingsley
